HETEROTIC POTENTIAL OF UPLAND COTTON HYBRIDS FOR EARLINESS AND YIELD RELATED ATTRIBUTES

چکیده
Cotton is a long duration crop which effects the timely sowing of wheat in Pakistan. Information various earliness and yield related traits are pre-requisite to develop early maturing high yielding cotton cultivars. Therefore, present research was conducted determine heterotic potential for six related. For this purpose, 10 F1 hybrids were developed through crossing between nine upland These along with their parental lines sown field conditions Faisalabad, All showed significant differences observed traits. The maximum recorded values heterosis index seed 66.05% 70.39%, respectively. Hybrid VH-289 × AGC-501 (66.05%), heterobeltiosis (50.43%) standard (32.52%) due negative days flowering, first boll opening, node number fruiting branch height branch. ARK-3 (70.39%), (28.52%) (72.01%) positive by its contributing This study can be used breeding program varieties.

A Hairy Anther Mutant Isolated in Interspecific Hybrids between Upland Cotton and Pima Cotton
Plant hairs (trichomes) including cotton fiber develop from single epidermal cells on the aerial surfaces of plants. Two main types of trichomes, glandular and nonglandular, can be found playing various functions including protection from insect damage. The development of plant trichomes provides an excellent system for studies of cell developmental biology. Because they are easily observable, ...

Germplasm Potential for Continuing Improvement of Fiber Quality in Upland Cotton: Combining Ability for Lint Yield and Fiber Quality
Exotic germplasm, that is, germplasm without commercial applicability, can broaden the genetic base in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). The objectives of this study were to determine combining ability and identify parents from exotic germplasm for breeding. Twelve regionally adapted exotic germplasm lines were crossed with one cultivar and three elite germplasm lines in a North Carolina D...

A population of 178 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) was developed using a single seed descendant from a cross between G. hirsutum. acc DH962 and G. hirsutum. cv Jimian5, was used to construct a genetic map and to map QTL for fiber and yield traits. A total of 644 polymorphic loci were used to construct a final genetic map, containing 616 loci and spanning 2016.44 cM, with an average of 3.27 cM ...
متن کاملQTL Mapping of Fiber Quality and Yield-Related Traits in an Intra-Specific Upland Cotton Using Genotype by Sequencing (GBS)
Fiber quality and yield improvement are crucial for cotton domestication and breeding. With the transformation in spinning techniques and multiplicity needs, the development of cotton fiber quality and yield is of great importance. A genetic map of 5178 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) markers were generated using 277 F2:3 population, from an intra-specific cross between two upland cotton a...
